Asterias is an encrypted messenger built for the age of quantum computers. PQXDH key exchange, Double Ratchet messaging, a non-custodial Monero wallet, and peer-to-peer betting — all in one app.
Free. Open source. No accounts required.
Everything you'd expect from a secure messenger — plus the tools quantum computers can't break.
Every session uses a hybrid PQXDH key exchange — X25519 + Kyber-768. An attacker must break both a classical and a post-quantum algorithm to compromise your messages. Layered on top, Double Ratchet delivers perfect forward secrecy for every message.
A full XMR wallet built directly into the app. Your keys never leave your device. Balance syncs via a decentralized oracle network — no light wallet server, no third-party custody.
Propose bets directly inside any conversation. Funds are locked in a Monero escrow contract and released automatically when the oracle network resolves the event. No bookmaker. No middleman.
A 2-of-3 consensus oracle network resolves betting events. Oracles are selected by reputation and stake weight. No single point of failure, no administrator with override power.
Identity is a Dilithium key pair generated on your device. The relay server routes encrypted payloads by public key and stores nothing. No sign-up, no email, no phone number.
The full cryptographic stack, protocol implementation, and mobile clients are open source. Inspect the code, verify the claims, run your own infrastructure.
On first launch, Asterias generates a Dilithium key pair locally. Your public key is your user ID — share it with anyone who wants to message you. Nothing is sent to any server.
When you first message someone, both devices perform a PQXDH handshake — combining X25519 Diffie-Hellman with Kyber-768 key encapsulation. The resulting session key is used to initialize a Double Ratchet.
Every message is encrypted end-to-end with a fresh key. Propose a bet inline — your counterpart accepts, funds lock in Monero escrow, and the oracle network resolves it automatically when the event concludes.
Asterias uses well-studied, standardized algorithms at every layer. Nothing novel, nothing experimental.
| Component | Algorithm | Standard | Quantum Resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Key Exchange | X25519 + Kyber-768 | NIST PQC Round 3 / RFC 7748 | Hybrid — break both |
| Session Encryption | ChaCha20-Poly1305 | RFC 8439 | 256-bit symmetric |
| Messaging Protocol | PQXDH + Double Ratchet | Signal Protocol (PQ variant) | Inherits hybrid KEM |
| Identity Signatures | Dilithium3 | NIST FIPS 204 | Post-quantum |
| Wallet Sync | View-key scanning | Monero protocol | Local — no server trust |
| Transport | TLS 1.3 | RFC 8446 | Relay only — E2E above |
The relay server is stateless. It routes encrypted payloads by public key and stores no message content. Even a fully compromised relay server cannot read your messages.
